The City of San Antonio is gearing up to commemorate Juneteenth, a significant day in American history. As we celebrate freedom and reflect on the journey toward equality, here’s what you need to know about the Juneteenth holiday schedule for city services.

City offices and services

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed in observance of Juneteenth. However, essential public safety and emergency services will remain operational. Here’s a breakdown of how other city services will be affected:

Police and fire services

  • Police officers and firefighters will be on duty, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.

General services

The 3-1-1 Call Center will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for non-urgent inquiries and from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. for urgent animal concerns and traffic signal malfunctions.
  • Animal Care Officers will be available for inspections and emergency coverage.
  • Downtown parking meters will have a holiday—no need to feed the meter on the streets (please note that this does not apply to off-street City-operated garages and lots).

Recreation and parks

  • Outdoor pools will be open on June 19. Check SanAntonio.gov/ParksAndRec for hours and locations.
  • City parks and trails will remain open for outdoor enjoyment.

Waste collection and drop-off
